TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach Rob Childress
On Asa Lacy’s performance…
“Well both starters were outstanding, and Asa Lacy was fabulous. He got us into the eighth inning and four outs away from a win. I feel bad for him and I’m the one who let him down. It was a poor pitch selection there on the home run, and if I had to do it over again I certainly wouldn’t have called that pitch. That falls solely 100% on me, not the guy that threw it but the pitch selection.”
On Lacy pitching from the stretch after conflict with the umpires…
“I just didn’t want the umpires having him worried about his delivery in the windup. That was our whole focus. They said he wasn’t coming in contact with the rubber, and we haven’t had that called through seven weeks. We didn’t want that to be a point of focus for Asa, so we just went to the stretch.”
Sophomore LHP Asa Lacy
On the outcome of the game after his performance…
“It’s tough. We played our butts off today. Unfortunately, we didn’t come out with a win. There was a lot of good things on the mound and defensively, and we have a pretty tough team. I expect us to come out tomorrow and get things done.”
Sophomore LHP Chandler Jozwiak
On the disappointment of losing despite the strong pitching performance…
“Definitely. I mean, you don’t want to see it end like that. But that’s the game of baseball. [When] you’re on a hot streak and then you lose a game in 15 innings, it’s a heartbreaker. We’re going to come back strong tomorrow and we’re going to try to come out and get a win.”
Junior OF Logan Foster
On how you handle a tough, 15-inning loss…
“It’s definitely a heartbreaker. But with this team, we need to put it to bed tonight and be ready to come out and go tomorrow.”
