15 miles of the OSR highway bordering Madison and Leon counties will be rebuilt.
Work on the first of five sections, from Normangee west to FM 1452, begins next Monday.
Bob Colwell at the TxDOT district office in Bryan says weather permitting, the six mile stretch will be completed in November.
The $17 million dollar project is scheduled to be finished in July of next year.
The project includes replacing the road base and five bridges, and widening the roadway to include shoulders.
Colwell says the stretch of OSR bordering Brazos and Robertson counties is in the design phase.

Beginning at 8 AM Monday, April 1, 2019 OSR east and westbound lanes will be closed to through traffic from FM 1452 to Spur 3.
Information about OSR closures and detours noted below to allow the contractor to rehabilitate the roadway:
The OSR full closure will impact westbound and eastbound through traffic. Access for local property owners and permanent residences will be maintained at all times during the construction project.
Traffic headed east on OSR will be rerouted at the intersection of FM 1452 and detour around FM1452 to FM 39 and will go north to get back on OSR.
Traffic headed westbound will have to take FM 39 South to FM 1452 to OSR.
OSR will be open from FM 39 to Spur 3 and will have access to the public school from OSR.
Drivers should reduce speed and maintain safe traveling distances between vehicles.
To alert drivers to the lane closures and detours, changeable message signs will be placed near the westbound lanes of OSR beginning about a week before the closures. The speed limit is reduced to 65 MPH throughout the limits of the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed in July 31, 2020. Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions.
During this two-year project, lane closure and relocation of traffic will take place at various times to accommodate construction activity.
This $17 million dollar project is contracted to Knife River Corporation.
