Bryan mayor Andrew Nelson assists Bryan police with what turned out to be an arrest of a College Station man for drunk driving with one prior conviction.
Two officers responded Tuesday night to the mayor’s report of a truck that was stuck halfway in a ditch on Rosemary Drive.
According to the arrest report, the mayor told officers when he asked the driver if he was OK, the driver said he had someone coming to help him.
A few seconds later, the mayor heard the driver ask for help. The mayor found that strange, since he was just told the driver didn’t need assistance.
The driver told one of the officers he thought he was in Brenham, he denied driving the truck, and he wouldn’t identify who was behind the wheel.
Then the driver refused to answer any other questions, adding he was pleading the fifth amendment.
Then he put his hands behind his back as if he wanted to be arrested.
38 year old Raul Rodriguez Mandujano, who was booked in the Brazos County jail for the 12th time in 18 years, was released after posting a $4,000 dollar bond.
