Fireworks and Grilling Safety

Every Tuesday afternoon the Bryan Police Department is our live on-air guest.

This week Officer Jason James brought in Fire Inspector/Investigator William Bouse to talk 4th of July safety with WTAW’s Chris Clift:

Bouse says anything you buy at a fireworks stand is considered a firework, and all fireworks are illegal within the city limits of both Bryan and College Station.

The County Commissioners have both a burn ban and a partial fireworks ban in effect for all of Brazos County, which specifically means fireworks with sticks and fins are illegal.

The fine for illegal use of fireworks ranges from $500 – $2,000.

Bouse also says it is illegal to grill within 10 feet of a structure, and that is a law which is broken frequently in the BCS area.
