Bryan City Council Supports Partial Smoking Ban At City Parks

Recommendations by two city of Bryan advisory boards about where smoking will be banned in parks…which were endorsed by the city council last week…will not include e-cigarettes and similar devices or smokeless tobacco.

Deputy city manager Hugh Walker tells WTAW News the current city code defines only smoke or smoking. There are no plans for the city council to consider changing that definition. And it wasn’t brought up during last week’s council discussion.

The council supported banning tobacco smoking at all city parks except the golf course and Lake Bryan, which according to BTU is not a park as defined by city ordinance but a utility lake.
