Tails of Loss Offers Support for Grieving Pet Owners

Losing a pet for some people, is like losing a family member.

Tails of Loss is a local support group for people grieving the loss of a pet.

Dr. Bonnie Beaver, a veterinarian at the Texas A&M small animal clinic, help start the group.

“When we lose a pet, we go through a grief process, but we do not have the support group that we do if we lose a human loved one,” said Dr. Beaver.

Monthly meetings are held the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Mending Hearts Grief Center on Southwood Drive in College Station.

“We can offer suggestions on ways and things that might be helpful to that person in dealing with that grief,” said Dr. Beaver.

This Saturday, Tails of Loss is holding a Pet Memorial Service at Chapel at Arbor Oaks (Crestview) at 7 p.m.
