Bryan School Board Chooses New Officers & Discusses Superintendent Search

There is new leadership on the Bryan school board. At the end of a special meeting Monday night…following an executive session…Trey Moore was elected president, Mark McCall vice-president, and Felicia Benford as secretary.

Before that, the board met with consultants hired to assist in the superintendent’s search. The board’s draft timeline is conducting interviews in February with the possibility of voting on a sole finalist in late March.

Earlier this month, the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) was hired to assist. At that time, TASB’s Marian Strauss, who is a former superintendent, told the BISD board that now is a good time to do a search. She said a superintendent can be hired in time to be involved in developing the budget and personnel items for the 2017-18 school year.
