One Dead, One Hospitalized, Two Horses Saved Following Highway 6 Crash

One person died and another was hospitalized following a crash that closed Highway 6 most of Friday afternoon between Bryan and Hearne.

DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says the person who died lost control of her pickup when a rear tire blew.

Her truck, pulling a horse trailer, flipped into oncoming traffic and was struck by another truck.

A dog riding with the woman also died. The other driver was taken to a Bryan hospital.

Two horses were rescued after emergency crews created an opening in the trailer.

The crash took place just before 1 p.m. on Highway 6 in Robertson County near Lakeside Grocery, which is between the Campbell’s Creek bridge and RV Source.

Traffic was totally stopped for two and a half hours. One lane opened in each direction at 4 p.m. The crash site was anticipated to be totally cleared by 7 p.m.
