Bryan police arrest reports say in the midnight hour last Friday (November 29) an officer on their way to an unrelated call sees a car commonly operated by a known person. After the officer is done with the unrelated call, he finds the car in an apartment complex. The officer smells marijuana and sees through the window a pistol laying on the driver’s seat. The officer learns the car owner has a prior felony and is wanted on five municipal court warrants. After the officer sees the owner in the backseat, there is a one hour standoff before the man gets out of the car. That results in the arrest of Mercellious Mcgee for the warrants and new charges of unlawful possession of the gun and possessing marijuana. Mcgee was released from jail the following day after paying municipal court costs and fines totaling $3,116.50 and posting bonds totaling $6,000 dollars for unlawful carrying of a weapon and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was released from jail on his promise to make court appearances on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Online district court records shows Mcgee is awaiting ten trials on misdemeanor charges dating back to September of 2019. Eight of the misdemeanor trials accuse him of marijuana possession.
