The Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) has announced WTAW has received six first place awards and is a finalist for six more awards for our news and sports coverage from 2024. WTAW competes in the Texas Broadcast News Awards (TBNA) radio division outside the major markets of Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. WTAW was recognized for The Infomaniacs as best local talk show, continuing coverage of the efforts to recruit a semiconductor manufacturing and research facility to the RELLIS campus, the best beat coverage for our reporting of Texas A&M and the A&M system, the best news anchor, the best sportscast, and the best use of audio. WTAW is a finalist for best newscast, best reporter, coverage of the November 2024 election returns, light feature, serious feature, and overall excellence. Those winners will be announced at the TBNA awards banquet in April. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A program on Bryan Broadcasting’s Magic 97.3 is honored again by the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards. Gloria Cooks’ Paradise Gospel Express won this year’s award for radio station of the year. The Paradise Gospel Express can be heard Sunday afternoons from one until three. Cooks has hosted her programs on KAGC, which is now “Aggieland’s R&B and Throwbacks”, since February 1989.
