Over the last month, The Eagle newspaper has received the most feedback over the last 15 years on a decision that had nothing to do with a news or sports story or an editorial. It was about a comic strip.
Editor Kelly Brown announced on Sunday that readers…as she said most demanded…will see the return of “Blondie” at the end of April.
Brown wrote, “Without question, the calls, emails, in-person visits and Letters to the Editor addressing the exit of “Blondie” far outnumbered any other reader comments, remarks or discussions in my years as editor — and even the nine prior as managing editor.”
“Blondie” and “B.C.” were pulled for two strips targeted to younger readers. While the Bumsteads will return, B.C. will not.
One the two new strips, “Phoebe and Her Unicorn”, is going away, while “The Argyle Sweater” is staying.
