COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M softball team jumped five spots to No. 9 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll, the Amateur Softball Association of America/USA Softball announced Tuesday.
The Aggies (17-1) are currently on a 14-game winning streak and are coming off a 5-0 weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational, where A&M outscored Indiana, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UTEP, 44-2.
Texas A&M leads the nation in home runs with 31 while freshmen Samantha Show and Keeli Milligan lead the NCAA in wins with 10 and stolen bases with 22, respectively.
Florida sits atop of the poll, followed by Alabama, Michigan, Auburn and Louisiana-Lafayette, who rounds out the top five. LSU is ranked sixth, while Washington is seventh and Oregon is eighth.
In the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, A&M moved up five spots to No. 11.
The Aggies return to action Friday-Sunday at the San Diego Classic in San Diego, Calif. All Aggie games at the tournament can be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM.
