One of three Army helicopters flying from Fort Hood to Conroe that spent Thursday night in a Grimes County hayfield resumed its trip Friday morning.
Sheriff Don Sowell told our sister station Navasota News 1550 a problem in a hydraulic line caused the chopper to land south of Anderson.
Sowell says while in the hayfield, the crew was given some local hospitality. Neighbors provided a picnic that included sandwiches and soft drinks.
The sheriff says it was fortunate the mechanical problem was detected before the Apache helicopter started flying over the Sam Houston National Forest.
