Bryan Council Investigating Cost of Phase One Design Expansion at BRAC

The Bryan city council has directed staff to develop a cost estimate to design the first phase of expanding BRAC, Bryan’s regional athletic complex.

Funding would come from the hotel occupancy tax, which Mayor Jason Bienski wants to use towards a superpark.

Bienski says the number one site is in the Castle Heights neighborhood…which is off Highway 21 and east of the freeway.

Councilman Mike Southerland told Bienski both could be done.

Bienski also told Rafael Pena he preferred using the HOT money towards a superpark.

The phase one cost estimate may be ready by the end of February.

As recommended last month, phase one includes two new softball fields and improvements to three current baseball fields.
