7 Hospitalized in Lubbock Apartment Fire

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) _ A Lubbock fire official says three people, including a small child, were critically burned and four others were injured in a blaze at a Lubbock apartment complex.

Deputy Fire Marshal Robert Loveless said three tenants suffered moderate burns and another person had minor burns from the fire Tuesday morning at the 24-unit complex. He says all seven were taken to area hospitals.

Loveless says investigators have not confirmed reports that the fire was the result of an explosion about 9 a.m.

Firefighters were checking each of the units after extinguishing the two-alarm blaze about 11:30 a.m.

Loveless said the cause is under investigation.
