A Bryan policeman making a traffic stop Tuesday morning lands a bigger catch. Taken to jail was the fifth suspect in the gang-related murder of Bryan teenager Christopher Hutchson on Mother’s Day last year.
20 year old Jose Castillo of Bryan is accused of engaging in organized criminal activity. A patrolman caught Castillo driving a vehicle with an expired registration in the 1300 block of Groesbeck. Following a short pursuit, Castillo stopped but is accused of giving a false name.
Also charged with engaging in organized criminal activity are Joey Reyes, Jacob Hernandez, and Manuel Guzman.
The fifth person, 22 year old Johnathan Orta of Bryan pleaded guilty in April to murder and engaging in organized criminal activity. Orta was sentenced to 40 years in prison and was given credit for time served.
