Voters in the city of College Station will have one runoff election.
That’s after no one in the city council place six race received 50 percent plus one of the total.
Pending formal council approval, voters will decide December 14 between Dennis Maloney and David Levine.
Maloney received 45.52 percent and Levine 38.16 percent of 5,754 votes. That’s a turnout of almost ten percent of the city’s 57,775 registered voters.
Tuesday’s city election results will be canvassed on Veterans Day.
College Station city voters elected Elizabeth Cunha to her first full term on the council and defeated a proposed charter amendment that would have moved council elections to odd numbered years.
Two other charter amendments passed. One bans College Station council members from engaging in city contracts or in any sale or purchase of city land, materials, supplies, or services. The ban would not apply when the council member owns less than one percent of stock in a corporation doing business with the city. The second requires council members to disclose campaign contributions over $500 dollars and abstain from participating and voting on any matter involving the contributor.
College Station ISD voters chose two new board members, Darin Paine and Blaine Decker, approved three bond issues, and defeated a fourth bond issue.
