Task Force Calling For Bringing Back Texas A&M’s Graduate School

After an absence of more than 30 years, Texas A&M may bring back a graduate school.

Currently, A&M has an office of graduate studies.

This month’s faculty senate meeting included recommendations from a task force chaired by associate provost Karen Butler-Purry.

Dr. Butler was asked how a graduate school would give more advisors and staff members to academic departments that are short-handed.

Doctor Butler was asked what would happen if a graduate school returns from a more than 30 year absence without additional money.

No action was taken by the faculty senate on the proposal, which will be submitted to the provost by the first week of July.
