Bryan, TX 77803
On February 21, 2017, officers from the Bryan Police Department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team will host a “Coffee with a Cop”. It is an informal meeting with the community and will be held at an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.
All community members are invited to attend. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on February 21st at Shannon’s Cafe in Bryan, located at 601 San Jacinto Lane in Bryan. The community can drop by and visit with the officers anytime between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Bryan’s neighborhoods. Neighborhood Enforcement Team officers will be on hand to discuss current issues, build partnerships with community members and just visit while having a cup of coffee.
The majority of time law enforcement only has contact with the public during emergencies or emotional situations. Coffee with a Cop helps break down barriers allowing for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction while making lasting connections with the community.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
