City of Bryan Seeking Public Input on Animal Ordinance Updates

Whether you are an animal owner or not, the City of Bryan wants your input on proposed animal ordinance updates.

Julianne Burkhalter, Bryan Animal Center Supervisor, says their advisory committee is hosting a meeting on Thursday, October 18th to receive public input.

“It’s a range of different things. Primarily we are looking at just doing some updates to better reflect adherence to state law, and support the community’s needs and promote the best practices in addressing common concerns,” said Burkhalter

On Thursday, October 18, 2018, the City of Bryan Animal Center Advisory Committee (ACAC) will host a regular meeting in Council Chambers of the Municipal Office Building beginning at 5:30 PM. In addition to regular business, the City welcomes the public to share feedback on proposed updates to the animal ordinance as committee members prepare to make a recommendation to Bryan City Council.

The ACAC is an advisory board that is comprised of seven members including a licensed veterinarian, an animal organization representative, shelter staff member, Bryan City Council member, and three citizens representing the community at-large. There are several key changes proposed in an effort to update the City’s existing animal ordinance to better reflect adherence to state law, support community needs, and promote best practices in addressing common concerns.
