FRISCO, Texas (AP) _ The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Daryl Worley. The free agent deal comes after the team selected two cornerbacks in last week’s NFL draft. Worley spent the past two seasons with the Oakland Raiders after playing his first two NFL seasons with Carolina. The 25-year-old Worley has five interceptions and 243 tackles in 56 NFL games. He was a third-round pick by the Panthers out of West Virginia in the 2016 draft. The Cowboys last week drafted Trevon Diggs from Alabama in the second round, and Reggie Robinson II from Tulsa in the fourth round.

College Station City Council Meeting Recap 08/27/2026
Thursday night’s College Station City Council meeting lasted approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes. Prior to convening the regular session, Mayor John Nichols made two announcements from executive session: The City would be terminating their contract with Plug and Play The City is making plans to sell a portion of the land adjacent to Costco to Bass Pro Shops. Consent agenda passed unanimously. The main focus of the regular agenda is the city’s proposed $576-million budget and the property tax rate of $0.530254 per $100 valuation. The budget adopted by a vote of 6-1, with Bob Yancy voting against. The tax rate was adopted by a vote of 5-2, with David Smith and Bob Yancy voting against. Just under 10 acres at Harvey Rd and Boonville Road, adjacent to Ascend at Harvey apartments, was re-zoned from Planned Development District to Townhouse. Land Usage and zoning was changed on approximately 100 acres of city owned land behind the Spring Meadows subdivision. Land use was changed from Business Center to General Commercial. The zoning was changed from Light Industrial to General Commercial The city says a sports complex and associated hospitality development are proposed within the subject tract. Council approved a measure to remove the future extension of Corporate Parkway between Midtown Drive and William D. Fitch Parkway including associated future bike lanes and sidewalks along with the realignment of the future Spring Creek trail to the existing Lick Creek trail. Below is the detailed agenda: 7. Two Men Arrested Following Bryan PD Drug Investigation
Two men are jailed after a drug bust in Bryan on Wednesday. Bryan Police conducted surveillance on suspected cocaine sales in the 1300 block of Moon Street. Officers say they observed men repeatedly walking between a fence and vehicles as they briefly stopped at the address. The men were identified as 68-year old Bobby Ray Perry and 38-year-old Quentin Lelavr McMiller. A bag discovered at the fence contained 7.4 grams of white powder and 0.15 grams of rock cocaine. Perry was found to have 20.29 grams of crack cocaine inside his car and was arrested for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (4G – 200G). He is being held on $50,000 bond and it was his 17th time at the Brazos County Jail. McMiller had 1.67 grams of crack cocaine and 10.20 grams of marijuana on his person. He was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (1G – 4G) and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces. Nine Students to be Honored During Silver Taps Ceremony 09/01/2026
Texas A&M University Silver Taps will be held Tuesday, September 1, at 10:30pm to honor the following students: Branson McNeel Bean — sophomore Agricultural Leadership and Development major from Cypress Harrison William Bradford — junior Political Science major from Dallas Caden Dean Crow — Ph.D. Pharmacy student from Breaux Bridge, LA Avery Lora Detten — junior Animal Science major from Hereford Rachael Ann Fikir — masters Visualization student from Montgomery William Charles Gaines — senior Multidisciplinary Engineering Technology major from Austin Thiago Ruiz Martelo — senior Management major from College Station Lincoln Christopher McCord — sophomore General Engineering major from Magnolia Vance Wilkinson Rowe — freshman General Engineering major from Schertz The Silver Taps ceremony will be held at the Academic Plaza. To honor their memory, the campus will be darkened at 10:20 p.m. Students, family and friends will gather in the plaza in front of the Academic Building in silence. At 10:30 p.m., an honor guard from the Ross Volunteer Company will march slowly to the plaza where its members will fire three rifle volleys. Those who wish to send condolences to the families may send an email to silvertaps@tamutraditions.net, or drop a letter in one of four memorial boxes located in Academic Plaza, the Memorial Student Center 12th Man Hall, on the Quad or in front of the West Campus Dining Facility. To help maintain the tranquility of the event, those living on campus should cover windows, keep noise to a minimum and walk to and from the ceremony without talking. Silver Taps is held on the first Tuesday of each month, September through April, if necessary, following a student’s death. It is one of the final tributes held for any current professional, graduate or undergraduate student who has died during the year.
