Texas Transportation Institute’s Tim Lomax on WTAW

Tim Lomax with the Texas Transportation Institute discussed changes to game day traffic for Saturday’s evening game, feedback from the Destination Aggieland smartphone app, and more during a visit on The Infomaniacs, Thursday, October 9.

Four Quick Tips for Exiting Kyle Field

  1. Avoid turning right onto Holleman from Wellborn! Holleman Drive between Wellborn and Harvey Mitchell Parkway is very congested. If you live in apartment complexes or subdivisions located south of Harvey Mitchell Parkway (FM 2818), continue south on Wellborn past Harvey Mitchell Parkway and turn right on either Cain Road or Rock Prairie Road and get home faster.
  2.  Yes, the Wellborn contraflow south is great, but other intersections are better than past football seasons. You may also travel east on University to the Highway 6 Bypass south on Texas Avenue or north on Wellborn to Villa Maria. The intersection of Texas and University has seen less congestion during the first two games.
  3.  Pedestrians, please try the new routes on west campus. When exiting Kyle Field under Wellborn, proceed south and west around the West Campus parking garage to get to Reed Arena, Olsen Field or Fan Field parking lots. Exception: People parked in lots H&R may walk across John Kimbrough Blvd.
  4. Plan ahead by downloading the Destination Aggieland app! The Destination Aggieland app is free in the Apple App Store and on Google Play, and available for download at gameday.12thMan.com or through the university’s iPhone app, TAMUmobile at the Gameday link.

Plans will continue to evolve – check back before each game.  As we learn about travel patterns and system constraints with 20,000 more fans, we will change plans to better serve our customers.
