CS Council Asks Kyle Field Redevelopment Questions

The people in charge of redeveloping Kyle Field answered questions at Thursday night’s College Station City Council meeting.

The A&M System’s chief business development officer, Phillip Ray, was asked about increased parking and moving more fans in and out of the area. Ray says options include additional parking garages, which are not part of the $450 million dollar stadium construction. Not only do plans have to be made when the number of seats increase to 102,500 when the project is completed. Ray says during the 2014 season the capacity will be 109,000 thousand due to ongoing construction.

Ray says they’re still trying to figure out how to shoot the cannon once the stadium is totally enclosed, not only due to the proximity of fans but the damage caused by noise levels to the structure.

Ray also says they’re also determining where to display memorabelia from the soon to be demolished G. Rollie White Coliseum. Demolition is scheduled to start in three months.

Ray was asked about the sales of suites and other seating related questions. He referred the council to the 12th Man Foundation, which had no representatives at Thursday’s meeting.
