Union Pacific Railroad has announced plans to build a $200 million dollar railyard between Mumford and Hearne.
Spokesman Clint Shelbitzki says the Robertson County railyard will generate a minimum annual payroll of $8 million dollars with 200 employees. And during construction there will be 1,000 temporary workers.
The complex, which will be built on 1,000 acres, will connect seven railroad subdivisions.
Shelbitzki says a strong Texas economy has Union Pacific in a growth mode, as a 400 million dollar facility is being built near El Paso and a third is being developed in Arizona.
Union Pacific is also building a 400 million dollar facility outside El Paso and a third in Arizona.
Clint Schelbitzki visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
