There are new developments in an armed robbery and murder that took place at Williamson Park in Bryan park in September of last year.

Anthony Lopez, who was 16 at the time of the shooting death of Jonathan Munoz, has been certified to be tried as an adult in Brazos County district court. Lopez, who will be 18 in two weeks, was recently booked in the Brazos County jail. He is out of jail after posting a $20,000 dollar bond that has conditions including having no contact with the co-defendants and remaining in his home between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Lopez is accused of calling Munoz to buy marijuana, then calling a second co-defendant, 19 year old Saul Suarez Jr., and setting up a robbery.

Suarez has been out of jail since shortly after the shooting in September of last year after posting bonds totaling $109,000 dollars.

The third co-defendant, 18 year old Adriana Garcia, entered a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office last June. Garcia admitted to participating in the armed robbery. The murder charge was dropped, and Garcia was sentenced to five years in prison. The plea agreement required Garcia to give truthful testimony against Lopez and Suarez…who are awaiting trials on murder charges.
