College Station School Board Receives Building Update And Approves Deferred Maintenance Items

College Station school board members received an update at this month’s regularly scheduled meeting about building projects around the district.

Facilities director Jon Hall says with the construction at the new River Bend elementary school, he’s had the luxury he’s never had before with having a few extra months.

River Bend is on track to be finished by next February, which will allow plenty of time to move in furnishings and give staff time to prepare for the 2019-2020 school year.

Hall says two campuses had issues from above average rainfall earlier this month. There was a water leak at Consolidated Middle School and repairs had to be made to an irrigation line at Consolidated High School.

And the board approved spending $430,000 dollars from the 2013 bond issue on deferred maintenance at three campuses. There will be roof work at Consolidated middle and high schools, exterior brick work at Consolidated high school, and 41 rooftop air handling units at Oakwood intermediate school.
