Two Dead After Two Vehicle Crash on SH 21 at Cooks Point

Two people are dead after a two vehicle crash Monday morning on Highway 21 at Cooks Point.

DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan says a Mack truck tractor pulling a saltwater semi-trailer was stopped on FM 1362, and when it turned onto Highway 21, it was struck by an eastbound minivan.

Morgan says the driver, 62 year-old Leslie Rosenberg, and the passenger, 19 year-old Sophie Rosenberg of Austin, died at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.

Highway 21 was reduced to two lanes for almost six hours. The crash is still under investigation.

BRYAN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating an early morning two vehicle double-fatality crash – at Cooks Point – on State Highway 21 and FM 1362 in Burleson County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 3 a.m., a 2015 Mack truck tractor pulling a saltwater semi-trailer on FM 1362 was stopped at the intersection. As the truck tractor turned onto State Highway 21, the trailer was struck by an eastbound 2017 Dodge mini-van.

The driver of the Dodge has been identified as Leslie Rosenberg, 62, and passenger Sophie Rosenberg, 19, both were from Austin and pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Bill Orsak. The driver of the Mack truck tractor was not injured.

State Highway 21 was reduced to two lanes for several hours as DPS Troopers investigated the crash.

This investigation remains ongoing with no further information available at this time.
