Brazos County Precinct 1 Constable Gets Another Deputy On A Split County Commission Vote

When Brazos County commissioners adopted the fiscal year 2019 budget, that included 20 amendments.

There were unanimous votes on all but one of the amendments.

There was a 3-2 split approving the addition of the first deputy in the precinct one constable’s office in ten years.

Precinct one commissioner Steve Aldrich says he proposed the addition after hearing from residents in the district that includes south College Station.

County judge Duane Peters says the constables are not delivering the volume of court-related paperwork as the constables north of Dallas in Collin County.

Peters also said the constable’s workload wasn’t high enough to justify another deputy.

The judge added if there was a demand for another law enforcement officer to handle traffic enforcement, there should be another sheriff’s deputy.
