The standoff, at the Riverstone Apartments on Kent Street, started Monday at 6:45 p.m. and ended Tuesday at 3 a.m. According to the arrest report, 26 year old Joseph Powell of Bryan was arrested on a felony charge of violating bond by entering his ex-wife’s apartment. Powell is accused of entering the victim’s apartment, grabbing the throat of the victim and pushing her out of his way. When Powell went upstairs, the woman left with her three children and she called police. Powell is awaiting trial on another felony charge of assaulting his ex three times…once last September and twice last January.

The stabbing was south of the former municipal golf course, outside a fourplex near the intersection of Ehlinger and Green. According to officer Kelly McKethan, two men who are related were involved in a verbal dispute when the man who does not live at the fourplex stabbed the other other man. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect is still at large.
