CSISD Voters Have Two Contested Elections And None In Bryan This November

Voters in the College Station school district will have three contested races to decide in this November’s election.

After the filing period ended Monday, CSISD announced the board’s vice president, Carol Barrett, has decided not to seek a fourth term. Two will compete for her place two seat. Kyle Barrington joins Amanda Green, who filed last week. Meantime, place one incumbent Mike Nugent will get a second term after he did not draw an opponent.

Both College Station city council openings drew three candidates apiece. Pursuing the place four seat to replace the retiring Barry Moore are Joe Guerra, Elianor Vessali, and Michael Buckley. And seeking the place six seat to replace James Benham, who is not eligible to run again due to term limits, are Craig Hall, Dennis Maloney, and Elizabeth Cunha.

In Bryan, there are no contested races for school board or city council. That means the re-election of school board members Mark McCall and Ruthie Waller to a second term, the re-election of at-large city councilman Buppy Simank to a second term, and Brent Hairston taking over the council’s single member district five seat for the retiring Ben Hardeman.
