Update:

A man involved in a more than ten hour standoff with law enforcement at his home in Benchley ended Friday night with an arrest on two charges.

DPS reports 37 year old Loyle Long was taken into custody Friday at 11:50 p.m.

The incident began Friday shortly after 1 p.m. when a trooper attempted to make a traffic stop of a pickup driven by Long on Highway 6 north of FM 2818 between Benchley and Bryan.

Long is accused of leading a pursuit that went from Highway 6 to the North Texas exit, through a nearby scrapyard, and to Long’s home on Benchley Drive south of OSR.

Long was arrested for evading arrest and a warrant from Robertson County charging him with failing to pay child support.

According to online records, Long is also awaiting trial on charges from last January of fleeing from a Bryan police officer and driving with an invalid license with a prior conviction.

Bond on the DPS charge was set at $100,000 dollars. No bond was set on the charge from Robertson County.

Original story:

Local law enforcement’s second standoff in five days is at a mobile home north of Bryan in the Benchley community.

DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says that’s after the driver of a pickup hauling a camper who refused to pull over for another trooper.

The attempted traffic stop, which was Friday shortly after 1 p.m., began on Highway 6 north of FM 2818.

The pursuit continued on Texas, through a nearby scrapyard…where the camper broke away from the pickup…then the driver went on to the mobile home.
