Brazos County Commission Approves Participation In A College Station Economic Development Project

An economic development project from the city of College Station now has the support of the Brazos County commission.

Without comment, commissioners on Tuesday agreed to waive property taxes for 15 years on the value of new apartments and commercial businesses built along a planned extension of Dartmouth between Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Texas.

County judge Duane Peters says the assistance was needed to spur development in an area where there is plenty of land in the flood plain.

According to the agreement passed by the College Station city council two months ago, developers have two years to start the first phase of their construction to be reimbursed 25 percent of their costs.
