Invitations From Sexual Assault Resource Center of the Brazos Valley

The board vice president and a volunteer advocate of the Sexual Assault Resource Center of the Brazos Valley (SARC), Brooke Conrad, visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver about Saturday’s annual fundraising softball tournament and the start of the next round of volunteer training June 13th.

More information from SARC:

Sexual Assault Resource Center’s 13th annual Bob Wiatt Crosstown Lockdown Softball Tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with 16 teams and more than 200 players ready to participate at College Station Central Park. Teams will be made up of community members as well as law enforcement and criminal justice professionals from across Bryan-College Station.

The tournament gets its namesake from the late Bob Wiatt, a former FBI agent perhaps best known for exchanging himself for hostages during a prison siege, who also was a former director of security and university police at Texas A&M, a founding board member of the nonprofit and an active supporter of the center until his death in 2010.

The tournament will also feature a kid’s zone, raffle prizes and food. All profits will benefit SARC.

The Sexual Assault Resource Center is a nonprofit organization offering free, confidential services to the victims of sexual assault in seven counties, including Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington.
