Statement released from Congressman Flores following his no vote to raise the debt ceiling:

“Nothing is more important than securing American’s fiscal future, but unfortunately this budget deal falls far short. It does offer some positive reforms, including a reduction in Obamacare’s burden on employers. It also provides greater funding on a more predictable basis for our military in an increasingly dangerous global environment. Unfortunately, as a whole, this deal does not deliver the broad entitlement reforms we need. It breaks the current budget caps without adequate offsets. It also raises the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion without any reforms attached to restore responsibility.

“After careful consideration, I have decided I cannot support this budget because it is a bad deal for hardworking American taxpayers. The ‘spend now, save later’ approach in this bill fails to address the critical drivers contributing to Washington’s fiscal nightmare.”
