3,500 College Station Utilities Customers Without Power Friday Morning

3,500 College Station Utilities electric customers lost service Friday morning between 6:30 and 7:30.

Director of Electric Utilities Timothy Crabb says there were reports of a flash being seen on a 138,000 volt transmission line near Post Oak Mall.

Crabb also told WTAW News “The data shows that there was a fault on this line and that the protection devices operated properly. The line was inspected before being re-energized, but nothing was found. The line was re-energized without a problem, and we had lineman space along the route in case something happened, but nothing did.”

The outage area was generally east of the freeway between University and Forest, and generally west of the freeway between University and Harvey.
