More information is known about a chase Monday afternoon in College Station after a SUV failed to stop for a Brazos County sheriff’s deputy.

37 year old Augustine Diaz of Bryan remains in jail after his arrest on two counts of evading arrest with prior convictions.

One is for not stopping the SUV after the deputy saw no license plates while on patrol in the area of Holleman and Graham.

The second count is running away after the SUV struck a concrete light pole in the Barracks neighborhood.

During the pursuit, according to the arrest report, the SUV ran a stop sign at Rock Prairie and Ridge Cove and the SUV was clocked at 56 miles per hour.

The driver was found with the assistance of a College Station K9 officer.

Constables from precincts one and three joined CSPD officers in responding to the chase.

Diaz, who is in jail for the 14th time in 20 years, is held on bonds totaling 25 thousand dollars.

Original story:

If you saw law enforcement vehicles speeding down Rock Prairie and/or Wellborn Road with lights and sirens around 2:30 Monday afternoon, there’s the possibility they were involved in chasing a vehicle that failed to stop for a Brazos County sheriff’s deputy.

The chase, which began on Rock Prairie, ended in the Barracks development on Towers Parkway when the vehicle struck a utility pole.

The driver was caught following a foot chase.

The name of the driver has not been released nor the reason for the traffic stop.

Assisting the sheriff’s office were College Station police…including a K9 officer…and constables from precincts one and three.
