Federal Officials Join Brazos County Area Law Enforcement And Prosecutors To #ThinkBeforeYouPost

Representatives of the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office from Houston came to Brazos County to join their local colleagues in a new campaign to stop young people from making false threats on social media.

The campaign is called #ThinkBeforeYouPost.

Brazos County district attorney Jarvis Parsons give some background information about how often false threats on social media is happening around Brazos County.

Kirk says his school resource deputies assigned in College Station ISD are busy investigating reports, where 90 percent turn out to be hoaxes.

Jarvis Parsons and Chris Kirk both repeated the FBI’s message to report threats directly to law enforcement and to not repost what you find on social media. Kirk says you can contact the sheriff’s office through the free and anonymous P-3 app.

And Parsons…who is not a licensed mental health professional…tells students who are considering making false threats on social media to contact school counselors, parents, and friends.
