Bryan Police Warn Of Solicitors, Announce New Video App, And Opens Registration For Citizens Police Academy

Bryan police is investigating citizens inquiries about the legitimacy of some door to door salespeople. Officer Kelley McKethan says some residents gave the salespeople personal identity information that included social security numbers. Then residents and BPD learned the solicitors were not affiliated with the company said they were representing.

BPD has also announced a partnership with a video app where residents are invited to upload suspected criminal activity. McKethan says Neighbors is a free app where community members can stay up to date on local crime and safety situations by signing up for real-time alerts and sharing anonymous tips directly from their smartphone. Text BRYANTX to 555888 or go to https://download.ring.com/bryan from your smartphone in order to download Neighbors for free on iOS/Android devices.

And McKethan says registration has opened for the next session of BPD’s English speaking Citizen’s Police Academy.
