Bryan School Board Gives The Superintendent A Raise Of Nearly $28,000 Dollars

The Bryan school board, without comment at this week’s board meeting, gave their superintendent a 12 percent raise.

According to a statement from Bryan ISD’s communications office, Christie Whitbeck’s salary was low when compared to her peers in similar sized districts, especially considering her years of experience.

Dr. Whitbeck, who received a raise of almost $28,000 dollars, has a salary of just over $260,000.

Other BISD administrators received a three percent raise. And teachers, depending on their experience, received raises between 4.7 and 14 percent.

The board also extended Whitbeck’s contract through August of 2022.

She is starting her third full year in Bryan ISD, after starting in April of 2017.

As of the morning of August 9, 2019, the most current tweet from Bryan ISD superintendent Christie Whitbeck.
