Bryan City Council Will Not Relocate Its Recycling Center

The Bryan city council has decided to not continue a recycling center once they are closed in the parking lot of the Briarcrest Wal-Mart store.

Mayor Andrew Nelson was among the five members at this week’s council workshop who supported the city manager Kean Register’s recommendation to let the private sector handle recyclables.

Environmental services director Eric Zaragoza says the closing date has not been set, because they have not heard from Wal-Mart when three restaurants…Chick-Fil-A, Jason’s Deli, and Panda Express…along with Murphy USA, will start construction of new facilities.

The city will maintain its tire disposal facility at the municipal services center.
