A College Station man has been arrested on a charge of murdering his roommate.

According to the College Station police arrest report, 24 year old Luis Solis struck 30 year old Osiel Benitez-Herrera multiple times with a baseball bat in their mobile home.

Herrera’s body was found last Wednesday night after Solis called 9-1-1 concerned about his roommate’s welfare.

Earlier that evening, officers responded to a call from a neighbor who reported one man beating another man in the trailer Solis and Herrera shared off Texas and north of Deacon.

Investigators found the suspected murder weapon in an outdoor trash container, along with shoe prints between the container and the trailer that matched shoes Solis was wearing. And Solis was wearing clothing that’s believed to have blood stains.

Solis told a detective when he returned to the mobile home park from the nearby Wal-Mart store, he heard a noise inside his trailer that led him to run into the woods.

Solis, who was also arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, is held in the Brazos County jail on bonds totaling $325,000 dollars.
