Texas A&M’s Dow Named To SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Texas A&M’s Courtney Dow was named to the 2019 SEC Women’s Golf Community Service Team. The SEC Community Service Team is part of a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.

One of the most-involved student-athletes on campus, Dow has served on Texas A&M’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council since she was a freshman, and this season, the junior was named to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ leadership team.

Dow has participated in several Texas A&M-sponsored volunteer events, including Aggies CAN, the largest student-athlete volunteer run canned food drive in the nation, and The Big Event, the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation. She has additionally helped with Special Olympics and helped serve Thanksgiving meals as part of an athletics initiative.

All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
