Woman Awaiting Two DWI Trials Is Back In Jail & Brazos County Jury Convicts Man Of Fourth DWI

For the third time, a Bryan woman awaiting trial on two misdemeanor drunk driving charges is back in jail. According to online records, 27 year old Laura Brusoe failed to appear for a court hearing last Tuesday. She was arrested last Thursday and has been held in lieu of bonds totaling $80,000 dollars. Her original bonds totaled $4,000 dollars. No trial dates have been set on the DWI charges from her arrests last May and May of 2017.

A Brazos County district court jury has convicted a Bryan man for his fourth DWI. Then the judge sentenced 61 year old Phillip Bachus to 30 years. Bachus was on parole from this third DWI last April when he backed up his car into a concrete block, kept revving the engine, and the transmission blew up…which started a fire. A bystander reached in to turn off the engine and take the keys. This happened at the Shell convenience store at 29th and Barak…while classes were letting out across the street at Bryan High School. According to the district attorney’s office, Bachus’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at .192.
