Update On B/CS Library Strategic Plan And Ringer Library Expansion

The last Bryan city council meeting included a presentation on the Bryan/College Station library system’s first strategic plan.

The system’s board vice-chairman, Dan Rudge, listed four sample objectives. They are:

(1) Over the next year, identify and reach out to three organizations/groups within the community to help the library system assess our Spanish collection.

(2) By 2024, two staff members will obtain training to teach coding languages.

(3) Provide two new practical technology programs a year to help the community stay up-to-date.

(4) Annually partner with six community groups so they can provide information on what programs and services they offer to the community and create twelve  displays for library branches that exhibit what they do.

Meantime, College Station mayor Karl Mooney updated WTAW News on the progress of the Ringer Library expansion and renovation.

Mooney says it’s easy to look through the windows and see bookshelves are being installed, and the landscaping is almost done.

Mooney adds he’s glad they waited for the project, which was passed by voters in a 2008 bond issue, due to increased technology.

At last word, the library was scheduled to reopen the first week of June, after being closed last November.
