Flooding In Leon County

The Leon County Emergency Management Office Facebook page reported 18 people were rescued from high water running over the road Sunday night.

Officials ask motorists if they see water across the road and no barricades to call the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and report the location so they can get TXDOT to close that section.

Weekend rainfall reports to the Leon County emergency management office ranged from nine to 11 inches.

Due to flooding, Buffalo ISD started school Monday two hours late.

The National Weather Service reports flooding on the Navasota River at Normangee is supposed to top 19 feet Tuesday morning, then start receding slowly. Flood stage is 15 feet, and at 20 feet OSR is under water. This Friday, the Navasota is projected to be around 17 feet…or two feet above flood stage.
