Various Ramp Closures At The New DDI Interchange For The Next Week

Motorists have another obstacle getting around the new interchange under construction near Easterwood Airport.

The TxDOT district office in Bryan reports for the next week at various times, there will be ramp closures getting on and off FM 2818/Harvey Mitchell and FM 60/Raymond Stotzer Parkway.

TxDOT says this is not supposed to affect thru traffic.

Most closures will be between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

But there are two locations that at some point will be closed overnight. They are the ramp from northbound FM 2818 to westbound FM 60, and the ramp from southbound FM 2818 to eastbound FM 60.

Weather permitting, the $14.1 million dollar project is expected to be completed this summer.

News release from the TxDOT Bryan district office:

Drivers can expect to take different routes for the next week near the intersection of FM 2818 (Harvey Mitchell Parkway) and FM 60 (University Drive/Raymond Stotzer Parkway).

Various ramps will be closed on different days to accommodate additional pavement construction.

During these closures, drivers may need to use different routes to get where they want to go.

This work only affects the ramps and does not affect traffic driving straight through the area on either FM 60 or FM 2818.

Drivers can also use the westbound Turkey Creek exit to circle under the bridge (near Easterwood Airport) to get back to FM 60 east or FM 2818 south.

Most closures will be between 9 AM and 4 PM to reduce the inconvenience to drivers during high traffic times.

However, two locations (the northbound FM 2818 to westbound FM 60 ramp and the southbound FM 2818 to eastbound FM 60 ramp) will have to remain closed one night each for safety reasons.

This work is part of the construction of the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).

This project is contracted to Knife River Corporation-South for $14.1 million.

The project is expected to be complete in early Summer 2019.
