Texas A&M Faculty Senate Adopts A Resolution Opposing Completing A Survey To Receive A Discount On Health Insurance Premiums

A resolution created by the presidents and speakers of faculty senates and councils of Texas A&M system schools has been adopted on the flagship campus.

The resolution opposes the system requiring a health assessment in order to receive a $30 dollar monthly discount on health insurance premiums.

At this week’s faculty senate meeting, member Greg Heim recapped a conversation he had with administrations about how assessment questions are written.

Speaker Julie Harlin brought up a possible consequence of incorrect answers when that information is in the hands of the system’s third party providers.

Harlin also talked about an e-mail sent by the system last week in response to the resolution.

Other than two abstentions, the senate unanimously adopted the resolution on a voice vote at this week’s meeting.
