COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For a second straight year, the 2019 Texas A&M football season will begin in prime time on a Thursday night in front of a national television viewing audience.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher‘s Aggies, winners of nine games in 2018 including a victory in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, open the 2019 season with a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Texas State Bobcats on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Kyle Field on the SEC Network. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31.

Last season, the Aggies opened the Jimbo Fisher era with a 59-7 victory over Northwestern State (La.) in front of a Thursday night crowd of 95,855 fans at Kyle Field. Leading Texas State in 2019 is first-year head coach Jake Spavital, who served as the Aggies’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2013-15. Texas A&M and Texas State have faced off twice previously with the Aggies tallying victories in 1919 and 2005.
