College Station Firefighters Respond To Restaurant And Vehicle Fires

One of two calls for College Station firefighters on Tuesday was a vehicle fire on the freeway, southbound between Rock Prairie and Barron.

CSFD reports no one was injured.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for more than one hour.

Original story:

College Station and Bryan firefighters responded late Tuesday morning to what turned out to be a kitchen fire at College Station’s Pei Wei restaurant on University Drive.

While the business was evacuated, no one was injured.

An inspection showed the fire did not spread to adjacent businesses or the roof the businesses share.

CSFD reported the fire via Twitter at 10:35 a.m. and declared the fire extinguished in another tweet at 11:46 a.m.

It’s the second fire at that retail building in the last three weeks. On January 24, roofing materials on top of the building caught fire while roofers were working. Smoke from that fire was sucked into the air handling system at Sports Clips, causing an evacuation of that business and others including Pei Wei.
