The day after Christmas in 2016, a northeast Texas man was shot to death in western Brazos County near the intersection of Highway 21 and OSR.

A Caldwell man charged with murder has been out of jail on bond until two weeks ago.

According to online jail records, 53 year old Rod Clanton was arrested then released on bond on a charge from Real County…west of San Antonio…on a charge of making a terroristic threat against a family member.

After that, the Brazos County district attorney’s office was granted a motion to revoke Clanton’s bond on the murder charge of killing Stephen Bishop of Bogota.

According to online court records, prosecutors say Clanton contacted or attempted to contact family members of the victim in Real County.

Clanton’s murder trial is scheduled to start April 29th.
